Halloween 2009 – Part I
by Mike on Oct.27, 2009, under General
This year, like last, the kids and I had a great time carving pumpkins for Halloween. I don’t really understand why Johanna doesn’t like making big messes with pumpkin innards – I mean heck, how can the idea of plunging a knife into an innocent gourd NOT excite the heck out of you?
Well, anyway, it’s late (waaaay too much time spent carving mine with a Dremel…yes, you read that right) so here are the pictures. The first one was James’. He chose the face from a list of printouts, and helped scoop it out. The rest was for Dad to help with.
Next is Aidens.
100% his own work, and he is really getting better at this! He chose the design from the list, traced it, cut it, hollowed it out, a real pro! It was supposed to be a Lion, but we decided it looks more like Chewie, so that’s what it is.
Glen’s is next. He did the hole thing himself…what a prodigy.
And lastly, mine. I found instructions online for how to use a Dremel for some intricate designs, and thought I would give it a go. Not bad for a first time.
Note to self, however: it is easier to Dremel a pumpkin if it is frozen. The first part went well, but after that, things got a little squishy.
