The Great Pumpkin

Every Halloween, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the Pumpkin Patch…and impales himself.
Okay, the story doesn’t really go like that, but Liz and Dad ought to get a chuckle out of it. But this blog post is really about letting everyone see the amazing “Pumpkin Carving of 2008″ that we just had.

This year Aiden did his entire pumpkin by himself, from start to finish. He was so excited, and so proud of his creation. As you can see, the face screams “I was carved by a 6 year old.” And though it won’t win any contests or scare away any gouhls or goblins from our doorstep, it is a wonderful addition to the otherwise lackluster halloween decor at our home.

James’ pumpkin had us worried for a bit, because when we picked it up off the front porch, it was a little “soft” to the touch. When I cut it open, it wasn’t rotten, just had thin sides in a couple of places. The mouth was a bit big, and it threatened to implode without help. The mini-pumpkin was just the right size, and made the grin just a little more manacing!
