My cup runeth over
by johanna on Apr.23, 2008, under General
A few days ago, Aiden was playing next door with his friends. I came out to check on him, and he was already walking towards our house “flowers” in hand. He said here mommy I picked these for you. I took them and thanked him profusely for the lovely flowers, and told him I would go put them in water. The smile on his face was so big it made my heart jump for joy, knowing that this simple exchange between mother and son brought so much joy into both our lives. We exchanged our I love yous and both went on our way. Even though the “flowers” he gave me were dandelions, I put them in a cup of water and displayed them proudly. These really are the moments worth living for.
Scripture Stories

As a family, we are reading the scripture stories from the church web site, the ones that used to be found in the old “Book of Mormon Reader” that we all remember so well from childhood. For the longest time, I was sure that none of this was sinking in with the kids. Boy, was I wrong.
Success!!!

The conference not-really-a-bbq was a huge success. Mom and Dad, Yiz and Sam, even Jeremy showed up. Mom raved and raved about the food, and overall it was really fun to have ‘em over. The kids were nuts, but that is to be expected.
It’s Conference Weekend! Well, almost…

Family is all about tradition, and there is one that I have had for a while which Johanna is happy to let me continue. No, I’m not talking about going to Arctic Circle for brown-toppers in silly hats, she’s not ‘happy’ to let me have that one, per se. No, I’m talking about my semiannual Conference Weekend Barbecue.
But this year, we have decided to put a little bit of a different spin on things. I don’t have a grill of my own that is worth of calling a grill (the Burgoyne’s are probably gonna need oxygen after hearing that one), so we have decided this year on Dutch Oven!
Plastic Surgery

Last night, Johanna and I went “under the knife” so to speak. Earlier this year I lost close to 40 lbs on a diet she helped me with (which I will be going on again soon
). Last night, we both decided that we need to lose a little bit more. So the gloves came off, we picked up the cutlery…and our debit card is no more. The “get out of debt” plan has begun.
